I am a dedicated and experienced British-qualified teacher with over two decades of expertise in teaching English to students of all ages. My passion for education, combined with my ability to tailor lessons to the unique needs of each student, has made me a sought-after educator in Bucharest. My proficiency in English and Romanian allows me to communicate effectively with both local and international students and their families.

How the 4 British Values Guide My Teaching and Tutoring

1. Democracy (Your Voice Matters)

We make decisions together by listening to everyone. At the start of every course, my students and I agree on our expectations of each other and the lesson. I always encourage students to share their honest opinions and feelings.

2. The Rule of Law (Empathy & Impact)

I help students understand that our words and actions have a real effect on others. At British Way, I do not just practise grammar; I nurture empathy, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking.

3. Individual Liberty (Choices & Ownership)

Learning is about being who you want to be and making your own choices. I offer my students choices in their learning. This gives them a sense of ownership over their education. With this freedom comes a healthy sense of responsibility and the confidence to make positive contributions to society.

Qualified and Certified

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Leicester and a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from London South Bank University. My commitment to continuous learning is reflected in my recent completion of a Specialist TEFL Certificate, which has further enhanced my skills in teaching English as a second language, particularly to young learners and business professionals.

A Seasoned Professional

With a career spanning over 25 years, I have held prominent teaching and leadership roles in both the UK and Romania. I served as Head of Primary at the International British School of Bucharest, where I played a pivotal role in shaping the school’s curriculum and ethos during its early years. Most recently, I held the position of Head Teacher at Acorns Nursery in Bucharest, where my responsibilities included teacher recruitment and training, curriculum development, and ensuring that high educational standards were maintained.

Interests and ventures

Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, travelling, and exploring new cultures. I am passionate about lifelong learning and am always eager to meet new people, discover different perspectives, and learn more about the world around me.

Community Engagement and Volunteering

I am deeply committed to giving back to the community, and some of my most meaningful experiences have taken place far beyond the traditional classroom.

Over the years, I have volunteered in a range of settings, including supporting refugees in Ecuador and working with children in residential care in Romania.

These experiences gave me the opportunity to work directly with people facing very different challenges, cultures, and circumstances, and they strengthened my belief in the importance of empathy, patience, and practical support. Whether helping someone adjust to an unfamiliar environment or giving a child the encouragement and attention they needed to feel more secure and confident, I have always found this work deeply rewarding.

My volunteer experience continues to shape the way I teach today, reminding me that education is not simply about knowledge, but also about confidence, connection, resilience, and helping people feel that they are capable of moving forward.
