Hello, and welcome! I am Fiona Edgar, the creator, educator, and driving force behind The British Way.

When you choose an educator or consultant for yourself or your child, you aren’t just booking a time slot on a calendar. You are investing in a partnership built on trust, professional expertise, and a holistic understanding of how people actually learn.

My journey in education began over two and a half decades ago in the United Kingdom. As a Native English speaker and British-qualified teacher, a Social Science graduate, and an Early Childhood specialist, I have dedicated my entire professional life to the art of development.

Over the past 25 years, I have worn many hats: school teacher, nursery educator, headteacher, educational team leader, trainer, mentor, and coach. Beyond the traditional classroom, my previous jobs as a nanny, youth worker, and play therapist gave me a profound understanding of child psychology and emotional development.

I don’t just understand lesson plans; I understand human behavior from babies to teenagers, and I have spent decades training teachers and advising parents and grandparents alike.

The Romanian Connection: Bridging Two Worlds

After beginning my teaching career in London more than 20 years ago, my life and career brought me to Romania, which is now my home.

I have lived here since 2001 and taught and led educational teams within prestigious international and British school systems.

Living here allowed me to become a competent speaker of Romanian. This gives me a unique, powerful advantage as your teacher: I intimately understand the exact cultural and linguistic hurdles Romanian speakers face. I know the specific grammar structures that cause frustration, the pronunciation traps that hold back brilliant professionals, and the spelling patterns that cause international school students to struggle with their SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar) testing.

Because I speak your language, I can easily connect with my students, ensuring they feel completely supported, understood, and safe to make mistakes from day one.

Fiona is a very understanding and kind teacher who makes you feel comfortable right away. She is very attentive to what you say and how you say it, so she corrects you right when you need it without making you feel uncomfortable.
I felt completely relaxed with her and was able to speak openly, just the way I know how. I really wanted to practice speaking and that helped me a lot, but the exercises were also very important and I enjoyed them so much because they finally helped me clear up and master the verb tenses.
